AHAVA Mineral Suncare Sun Protection Anti-Aging Facial Moisturizer SPF 50 Sunscreens Review

This product was good for my sensitive skin, as it did not give me any reaction. Although I wanted it as a daily moisturizer with high protection. It is too thick to put on my face and it left me looking white! I looked ghostly, quite unflattering!

I am an outdoors person and this product screens the best of any I've used. It does not wash off, gives hours of protection and stays on. Very concentrated so do not use much otherwise your face will turn white and look like Casper the Friendly Ghost.

BurnOut Eco-Sensitive Zinc Oxide Sunscreen SPF 32 Review

BurnOut Eco-Sensitive Zinc Oxide Sunscreen SPF 32
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I searched for a very long time to find a perfect facial sunscreen, and I have found it! I'm using the Obagi Nu-Derm system on my face, and due to the Retin A I needed a good physical sunblock to avoid burning. Everything I tried turned my face into a grease-ball, and even after being out just an hour I'd still be a bit pink. I break out pretty easily, and so this was a concern when trying a product that is fairly expensive compared to brands I have tried in the stores. Burn Out is everything I was hoping for: non-greasy, I don't break out from it, there is no white cast to my face, no sensitive reaction- and best of all, I am protected from the sun!!! I also like the fact that it is environmentally friendly and safer than so many other sunscreens out there. I can put my makeup over it and the amazing thing is that I no longer have to add much powder to set my foundation, and I never have to blot during the day. I highly recommend this product for women who have done facial peels, or are using Retin A and need a physical sunblock!

I dont wear foundation or powder so this product is perfect for a little skin coverage. And no chemical sunscreens! It does leave skin "dewey," which I love but I've heard others may prefer a more matte finish.

Photoderm max Fluide SPF 50+ Review

Photoderm max Fluide SPF 50+
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
In my youth through my late 20's I tanned regularly. In my early 30's I began to see some effects(fine lines and spotting/freckling on face and shoulders) I became educated about how the sun breaks down and destroys your skin. At 35 I began applying sunscreen everyday under makeup regardless of seasons and weather. After many trials and research I found Bioderma Photo Derm MAX Fluide. It is the best protection and hides easily and comfortably under makeup. There is a bit of pilling whenever my skin is a bit flaky but otherwise I have not experience any problems. It doesn't cause my combo skin to breakout, it's not overly white, and it doesn't make my skin oily or shiny under makeup. In fact it almost aids makeup application as a primer. After 9 years of daily application of this sunscreen, I have no dark spots or freckling AT ALL on my face. I am a firm beliver in buying and using the best sunscreen you can afford, and this is the best, in my opinion. I hate how cosmetics and skin care companies promise women extreme results which just aren't possible. This is one item that WILL show you amazing results if you use it everyday.

Coola MineralBaby Moisturizer Suncare, SPF 45, Unscented 3 oz (90 ml) Review

Coola MineralBaby Moisturizer Suncare, SPF 45, Unscented 3 oz (90 ml)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This sunscreen has some stuff I love about it and stuff that can be improved. I'll start with the positives.
1. This is an all natural product with out the harmful chemicals that sunscreens has
2. this is the only sunscreen or sunblock I have ever used that didn't irritate my eyes. I could wear this all day and no problems.
3. it does have a white residue on your face, but it's not so bad when you wipe the excess off. The white residue is minimal compared to other healthy sunblock brands that I have tried.
Now for the bad.
1. This sunblock is very greasy. It's hard to wash off of your skin. I broke out after having used this sunblock for a couple weeks. Normal soap and water does not remove this product entirely and you may get acme. Hopefully I can find a cleanser that can remove this. I've been trying exfoliating cleanser to scrub it off.
2. It leaves a white gooey residue on your clothes. I washed my clothes and the residue was still there so it's apparently not water soluable. I am going to try to using hot water in the rinse cycle next time instead of cold. I am hoping that will help.
3. this sunblock comes out of the tube very thick, especially when the tube gets cold. You have no choice but to apply a thick layer on your face for complete coverage and then you have to wipe off the excess which is kind of annoying.
conclusion:
This sunblock is not with out flaws, but it is a good product nonetheless. I am willing to put up with with the white residue problem for now 'cause it doesn't irritate my eyes. That's very important to me since most sunscreens render me blind after a few hours of use. So, it's great for babies and kids since it's mild. Just wash your skin thouroughly after use with the proper cleanser 'cause you may break out. Also, it doesn't have the harmful chemicals that other products have and no nano-zinc which is important.

We are very happy with this natural sunscreen. It worked great on us and our kids this summer at the beach. It goes on easily, though is thicker than the traditional stuff. The lack of fragarance is a plus too. Even my son's very sensitive skin had no problems with this sunscreen. It is now our preferred sunscreen.

Anthelios XL sunblock - SPF 60 - 3oz - with Mexoryl Review

Anthelios XL sunblock - SPF 60 - 3oz - with Mexoryl
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Amazing. Mexoyrl was available in the rest of the world for 13-17 years before being approved by the FDA - with no additional testing, no explanation for the delays (FYI Most of the world have more restrictive regulations on cosmetics v. U.S. regs). Mexoyrl is available in many products elsewhere as a generic (along with >5 other newer sunscreen developments). But because it's "new" in the U.S. the patent starts all over again here and some products that have it as an ingredient elsewhere, have disappeared entirely from store shelves in the U.S.
What does that mean? It means I now pay MORE for Mexoyrl products than I did importing it illegally (which was never strictly enforced anyway). It has become LESS available, not more.
For decades people petitioned the FDA for Mexoyrl, including dermatologists because there is no equal -not even close. The ingredients currently used in sunscreens against UVA (read cancer-causing rays) are not stable and may even be harmful to your skin. Consumer Reports called them snake oils, class action lawsuits were filed against 9 major manufactueres including coppertone, johnson, neutrogenia.
Mexoyrl is 99% effective, stable in the sun (not photosensitive), does not react with minerals (like in tints that leave older ingredients ineffective or harmful) and like I said, nothing else comes close in the U.S.
The backlash after it's approval has lead many well-meaning consumer type organizations that don't do their own testing to over-estimate the claims from the snake oil manufacturers. The latest FDA rating standards do not rate what the effectiveness is 10 min. after it's applied, in the sun. They are almost meaningless.
I have life-threatening skin cancer. This is no joke and the discrepancy between the truth and propaganda is costing lives.
No sunscreen is a free pass to be in the sun, esp. during the worst times when the sun is closest. The sun now is not the same as what I was exposed to growing up. Sunscreen is not the first line of protection, shade is. There are very cheap laundry additives that can raise a tshirt rating from a 4 to a 50, plus being stable in the sun. That's better than a cream. Something is not better than nothing when exposure to the sun is increased (evidence for the lawsuit included rates of skin cancer were increasing despite use of sunscreens).
Skin cancer is expensive, disfiguring and can be life threatening. What people do at 20, they will pay for at 40. The ages are lowering along with the epidemic growth.
Save thousands in wrinkle treatments, anti-aging products and makeup by protecting your skin now. Sun protection added to tinted makeup is a joke. It's physically impossible just like claims to be 'waterproof' or all day protection. Mexoryl is 99% effective screening UVA rays.
If you import your own then you can get others that work with tinted makeup.

Laura Mercier Oil Free Flawless Face Kit ($159 Value) Review

Laura Mercier Oil Free Flawless Face Kit ($159 Value)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As a 52 y.o. tweenior I was noticing my sagging under eye area more than I liked. Not at all would be best but I'm not ready for the ultimate option. I like a very natural look and had read great reviews on Laura M's tinted moisturizer. I was very pleased to find one of these kits. It's a excellent value for a newbie. The moisturizer evens out my skin tone. One pot is a triple header containing a pressed powder that covers spots and the nose area nicely and the cream side was a real wonder at slight of hand on the under eye area. I also have a very dry eye problem and another plus was less powder near the eyes. I didn't find a need for the pre moisturizing product or the finishing powder. I need a little color and so I supplement with a very light mineral blush. I really liked the kit's triangular sponge for applying. The brushes aren't anything amazing but nice enough for extra. The clear plastic bag is nice and sturdy for travel. I was impressed enough to buy a second kit. Go Laura Mercier!

La Roche-Posay Anthelios 40 Suncreen Cream UVA Protection with Mexoryl SX, 1.7-Ounce Tube Review

La Roche-Posay Anthelios 40 Suncreen Cream UVA Protection with Mexoryl SX, 1.7-Ounce Tube
Average Reviews:

I bought this sunscreen after reading about its improved protection against both UV A and UV B.
I have no complaints about the sun protection - it seems to work, though of course a true test of protection is long-term sun damage avoidance, and not from a few days' use.
But I dont like the texture of the cream. First, it is not a lotion but a cream. By which I mean its semi-solid and does not blend well on the face. I tried using a lotion moisturizer blended with this sunscreen to make it blend better, but its not easy.
Second, the sunscreen is very whitish and looks that way even after applying very little of it. So if you are somewhat tanned and apply this cream it will show up in whitish streaks on your face that do not sink in.
I also tried applying mineral makeup on top of this to reduce the white-out look, but the camouflage does not work too well.
Third, the sunscreen is not marked as 'non-comedogenic (does not block pores) so that might be an important factor for you to consider if you tend to have large pores, whiteheads or blackheads.
Summary: if you are going to spend a long time in the sun and want a high performance sunscreen, use this one. If you want something more mild for daily use, try out the SPF 15 version of this same brand, or look elsewhere.

GOscreen Natural BrushOn Powder Sunscreen for Kids and Adults, SPF30 Review

GOscreen Natural BrushOn Powder Sunscreen for Kids and Adults, SPF30
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Not to be the single, cranky wet-blanket, but I feel like someone should deflate some of the hype. The applicator is awful, flat-out. The little pump-thing has to be pushed about twenty times to dispense enough sunscreen to cover maybe half your arm, and even then it's difficult to tell if you have any of the stuff on you because it's see-through (when you go out in the sun, though, it's just barely shimmery. Maybe a deal-breaker for some, but I think it's pretty). This makes the product's claim of "WHOA! 300+ applications!" a little dubious, because, really, if one pump counts as an application you're getting a lot less than 300 uses, even if you only use it to cover a very small area like your face. Eventually I ended up cracking the whole thing open and putting the powder in a little container so I could dip a brush in and apply it myself.
That said, the actual SUNCREEN works really well, gives my skin a nice shimmer, and doesn't make me look like an oil slick. It's really a lovely product, it's just the design that sucks.

Juice Organics Light Tint Moisturizer, Packaging May Vary,1.7-Ounces Review

Juice Organics Light Tint Moisturizer, Packaging May Vary,1.7-Ounces
Average Reviews:

... SPF-30 = sunblock strength.
... Chemical-free so (unlike the others) it doesn't possibly cause what it's supposed to prevent.
... Skin colored so (unlike the others) I actually can use enough to achieve the SPF-30 without looking like a clown.
... Anti-aging moisturizer in its own right so (unlike the others) no added face cream is needed.
... Unlike some other so-called chemical-free sunblocks, this does not smell like a can of paint.
... Pomegranate extract supports the immune system.
... Very light and pleasant. Some people disagree but most find this has a luxurious feel.
... Twice as expensive as some others, but this is one of those times that maybe I get what I pay for.
... I am stocking up because often some of the best health products go out of style, and there is just no other sunblock like this.
Note--
1. No amount of sunblock gives serious protection to your skin, not to mention your eyes. Wear a shirt and brimmed hat or UV-rated sunglasses. (A shirt soaked in water is much cooler than no shirt.)
2. Some amount of strong sun is needed for vitamin D and general health. However the face and hands are generally over-exposed and do not produce significant vitamin D. Therefore the most valid use for sunblocks is for the face and hands.
3. We do not really know the effects of zinc and titanium on babies or toddlers so why not just keep them out of strong direct sunlight?
4. This sunblock contains "aromatherapy" type oils, which are healthy for adults but may cause allergic reactions, and are probably not intended for children or pregnant women. For children and hypersensitive people I suggest:
Loving Naturals zinc-based SPF-30 sunscreen. 100% natural, thin.
Thinkbaby or Thinksport zinc-based SPF-30 sunscreen. 100% natural, thick.
TruKid Sunny Days. A few mild chemicals but very natural and easy to apply.

Soleo Organics all natural SUNSCREEN, SPF 30 Review

Soleo Organics all natural SUNSCREEN, SPF 30
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We just bought and used this product due to its high ratings on Skin Deep (an agency that uses a rating system to inform the public of the toxicity of a products ingredients) but after using it for a few days on our trip to Florida, we tossed it in the trash.
We have four kids, ranging in age from 1-12, and we are vigilant about sun protection (our kids all wear rash-guards as well as sun screens while swimming) and re-applications of lotions but we had several bad burns on our little ones. Last year, we used California Baby products and though it was bit tough to rub in, our kids never burned.
This stuff was greasy too, but I would have tolerated that if it had worked!
Mid-vacation I switched my family from Soleo to a back-up tube of California Baby from last year, and it STILL worked better, even being over a year old!
I'd use this product with hesitancy. If you're going out for a bit of sun here and there, it's probably fine. But if it's your main protection against the sun--think twice. There are better products on the market with low toxicity ratings.
